Global Search

โ„น๏ธ
Global Search allows your users to find content quickly and easily, in a way that is familiar. The Brand Hub uses an industry standard called โ€˜Elastic searchโ€™ to power its search engine.

Contents

Introduction

A global search (searching across different content types) can be carried out at any time using the search bar in the Brand Hub header.

Closing this page will close the overlay view and return the user to the page they were previously viewing in the Brand Hub.

Search

To begin a search, the user must type in a minimum of 3 characters into the search bar and press enter, of click the search icon to execute the search.

image

The system will search the users' current brand (by default) across the following content for matches:

  1. Assets
  2. Pages
  3. Editable templates (applicable for clients with Artwork Automation only)
  4. Static artwork (applicable for clients with Artwork Automation & Print Fulfilment only)
  5. The logged in userโ€™s adaptations (applicable for clients with Artwork Automation only)

All results will be displayed to the user on a single page, in the order listed above. If there are no matches from a category, this section will not show on the page and the lower categories will be moved up as necessary.

Cross-brand Search

Global search can search across multiple brands instantly โ€” without redirecting you, to provide a more seamless search experience. For every brand that the user has access to will be displayed as a tab option and display the most relevant assets for that search query.

No results

No results screen show to users when the search query returns no results

Should there be no results returned for that specific brand the user will be displayed a notice just to inform them that the search has been conducted, but there have been no results generated for that search query.

Recommendation Engine

๐Ÿ“ข

Please note, this is our first step in building a truly intelligent BrandHub. There's a lot more to come. Keep up-to-date with what we're up to on our Roadmap

As part of our strategy to become intelligent and proactive in the user experience on the BrandHub, using artificial intelligence to power our Recommendation Engine, we provide suggestions and insight into user behaviour with the primary goal of helping users find the right assets, faster!

image

Our recommendation engine tracks a number of data points on the BrandHub which allows us to present the user with five of the most popular search terms on the BrandHub. The data within the Global Search trending searches is updated and refreshed every hour.

Trending Searches

Trending searches track the most popular search terms used across the BrandHub. The search terms use a rolling 30 days which means it always stays up-to-date, relevant and disproportionate searches don't skew results outside of their relevant timeframe (e.g. "Christmas ... ")

image

Clicking on one of the trending searches will load all asset types linked to that search term(s). In the above example where 'health' is clicked, it only relates to assets, therefore pages, templates, etc. have been omitted from the return.

Search terms

Format

Search terms are always be stored in lower case format as this produces the cleanest comparison. This means, when a user searches for: Health, this would be converted to lower case: "health". When a user searches for "Health", "health" or "HEALTH", all would be converted to "health".

Length

Search terms longer than 25 characters would be limited to the first 25 characters only. For example this: "Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry" would be shortened to "Lorem Ipsum is simply dum"

Brand permissions

Trending searches are NOT brand specific. This means results for searches will be always visible from all brands. Regardless if a user has access to a brand or not, they will see the Trending Search term. However, of course if they clicked that search term and didn't have appropriate access to the brand where the asset is located, the response to the search would yield "no results".

Most Popular Assets

This provides users with a view at the most downloaded assets across your BrandHub and again, uses a rolling 30 days statistics. Where possible the user will be presented with up to 5 of the most popular assets across your BrandHub.

image

Clicking on one of the most popular asset tiles, will take the user to that asset's detail page.

image

Brand permissions

Popular assets are NOT brand specific, they will be the most downloaded assets across all brands (if applicable). However, we only display assets that users have access rights to.

For example, let's say you have 3 brands; Brand A, Brand B, and Brand C and one of your users (user 1) has access to only Brand B. They will be presented with the 5 most popular assets relevant to them (i.e. that they have access to).

Most popular assets (ordered from most downloaded to least downloaded):

  1. "Lorem ipsum" - Brand A โŒ
  2. "Dolor sit amet" - Brand C โŒ
  3. "Consectetur adipiscing" - Brand B โœ…
  4. "Duis aute irure dolor" - Brand B โœ…
  5. "Excepteur sint" - Brand C โŒ
  6. "Officia deserunt" - Brand A โŒ
  7. "Aliquip ex ea commodo" - Brand B โœ…
  8. "Dolore eu fugiat" - Brand A โŒ
  9. "Sunt in culpa" - Brand B โœ…
  10. "Aliquip ex" - Brand B โœ…

Therefore, user 1 will be presented with Assets from order 3, 4, 7, 9, 10.

โš ๏ธ
To ensure the best UX and to optimise performance, we closely monitor and track only the 30 most downloaded assets at any given time and store that information separately. Therefore, there is a small edge case that a user may not have access to any of the assets within the "top 30". If that's the case, the entire row will be omitted from the user's global search panel.

Recent Activity

image

The third phase to the recommendation engine on Global Search truly makes every BrandHub unique to each user. The BrandHub now recommends assets based on your most recent activity (currently just downloads). The data is updated continuously on a rolling 30 day period and recommends assets based on business intelligence (keywords).

Brand permissions

Recent Activity section is NOT brand specific, they will be recommendations from the user's activity 'globally' across all brands (if applicable). However, we only display assets that users have access rights to.

Social Media

image

For the first time, we've connected external activity to your BrandHub assets. In the first instance we analyse specifically the top trends on Twitter based on a certain location. By default, this location is set to the United Kingdom, but this can be easily configured on a per BrandHub basis.

Brand permissions

The Social Media section is NOT brand specific, they will be recommendations based on Twitter trends in a specific location and match to assets across all brands (if applicable).

Reporting Cube

To empower admin level users, we also provide reports on search terms so you can understand how to best serve your users with the right collateral. Please see the Reporting Cube product spec for more info.
