Training Module

📄
The new Training Module - a 'quiz' type tool which allows users to complete brand training from within their Brand Hub, is based on an innovative and disruptive CMS that completely changes the way you can design and build content to the Brand Hub.

Contents

Permissions

The Training Module is available to all users — Administrators, Uploader publishers, Uploader's, Privileged, Standard and Guest. Administrators only have the ability to build, edit and delete courses whilst all other users have only the ability to view/take a quiz, once it has been set to public.

Accessing the Training Module

The Training Module can be found from within the 'Apps' menu. Please note, this menu item will not show if the client doesn't have access to the module.

Protection groups

There are four protection groups for courses in the Training Module.

Unapproved

By default all courses are set to unapproved which means they are only visible to admin users.

Public

Public means that this course is available and accessible to all users of the Brand Hub.

Protected

These courses can only be seen by privileged users and above.

Archived

Courses set to archived mean that the course will be removed from 'available courses' and only admin users will be able to view the course.

Please note, If a course was previously set to 'public' or 'protected' and one or more users have passed the course, and the course is then set to archived — it will still display in the 'completed courses' section of their dashboard.

Course structure

The overall course structure and page hierarchy is as follows:

Courses > Lessons/Sub-topics > Strips > Columns > Elements

For more in-depth information on strips, columns, general elements and their respective settings, please find here → the CMS product specs

Create a course

image

To create a course the user needs to navigate to the Training Module via the apps menu.

Please note, by default, courses are created with the ‘unapproved’ status, this means only admins have visibility of this page.

Enter the title of the new course to start building.

Create a lesson

image

Then the user will need to create their first lesson, to do this they should use the left hand navigation panel and follow the call to actions. Following this, they can then start to build out content for the lesson from a selection of strips, columns, seven standard block elements and three interactive elements. As previously outlined, should you wish to learn more about building pages or lessons please find an in-depth overview here → the CMS product specs.

Interactive elements

To engage your audience when trying to convey either a lot of information or a complex topic, we created several interactive components built into the Training Module. These are great to recap important information prior to taking a quiz to test the users knowledge on subject matter.

Build a quiz

image

To build a quiz, simply follow the left-hand navigation call to action.

There are two options to create a question within that quiz. Firstly, via the link contained within the blue call out box titles 'Build your question'. Secondly, via the 'Build question' button in the top nav module admin panel.

Please note, there are no restrictions to start building a quiz i.e. having lessons built beforehand is not a prerequisite — you can jump straight into building the quiz. However, to set the course to public, you will need to have set at least one lesson and a quiz with a minimum of two questions.

Questions can be multiple-choice only.

Within each question, you are able to add media rich content and all other elements that can be accessed via a lesson or the wider CMS page builder. From images to videos, and audio to text.

Each question can have between a minimum (inclusive) of two, and a maximum (inclusive) of eight questions.

Course Settings

image

There are two ways to edit the course settings - either from the dashboard, or within the course page itself. Control the course structure, course name, protection group and even view the course analytics. We’ve also enabled a ’preview’ mode from within the page to give you a feel for how the page will look and perform for your users.

⚠️
1. Once a course has been made public, the quiz cannot be edited. 2. Once a course has been taken by at least one user, the course cannot be deleted. 3. Once a course has been made public, the pass mark cannot be changed.

Taking a quiz

image

Once all lessons have been completed*, the quiz becomes available for the user to take. The UI guides the user through the process, whilst updating them of their progress.

*A lesson is classified as completed when the user has read all of its contents. (calculated by scroll position)

When a user has completed the quiz, they will be informed as to whether or not they have passed, and what their score was (including score percentage).

If a user has passed, the course will then appear in the 'completed courses' tab within their Training Module dashboard, with additional information on their score. — See below on user dashboard section.

If a user fails, they will have the opportunity to retake the test (an infinite number of times) until they have passed. Until they pass, the course will remain within their 'available courses' tab from within their dashboard.

Analytics

image

Gain actionable insights for each course easily from the admin dashboard. Data includes; time since release, participants, average score per question, etc.

Number of users completed

This is the number of users that have passed the course.

Average score

This is the average score taken of those users that have passed. The system doesn't take into account the score of those users that have failed.

Weeks since release

The number of weeks since release (rounded down). For example, if you released a course three days ago — the number of weeks since release will be displayed as '0' (zero).

Average quiz scores

This breaks down and gives you insight into each question and how users performed. Again, the system doesn't take into account the score of those users that have failed.

Attempts required to pass

An overview of the number of times users needed to take the quiz, to generate a pass.

User statistics

Provides a breakdown and insight of each individual user who participated, and passed the course.

User dashboard

image

Uploader publishers, Uploader's, Privileged, Standard and Guest users, when they navigate to the Training Module will be presented with their own course dashboard.

Available courses

This will display all courses that have been made public by admin users, and that the individual user has not yet passed.

Completed courses

This will display all courses that the users have passed, and will provide insight into their performance on that course.

Admin dashboard

image

Admin level users have a very different dashboard to other users. You can control many aspects of the course without leaving the page.

Course settings

  • Course name
  • Protection group
  • Pass mark - set as an integer. Please note, that once a course has been made public, or protected, this cannot be changed

Course analytics

This will take the user through to the respective analytics dashboard

Edit course

This will take the user into the course to edit course content. Please note, quiz questions cannot be edited once a course has been set to 'public' or 'protected'
