Introduction
We know that our clients love Getty Images ❤️
They have hundreds of files that they’ve purchased to use for their brand.
Making the most of this content is important.
We wanted a way to connect a library on Getty with the BrandHub, & get all the usual benefits of the Asset Library:
- Control - decide who can see & download each of these assets.
- Search - helping users find relevant content.
- Empower - using these assets: add to a basket, use in a Design Studio template, or publish to the CDN.
- Reporting - using our Reporting Cube to view the real time data behind these assets.
Permissions
Getty Sync will be available to select users, by giving them access to the Getty Sync app in User Management.
Once assets have been imported into the BrandHub, the correct user permissions can edit them like any other asset. You can read more about editing assets here.
Technical permissions
To turn-on Getty Sync we’ll need your Getty Images credentials.
Migration
Our first step is migrating all our purchased files from Getty Images, straight into the BrandHub’s Asset Library.
Metadata
The BrandHub will automatically ingest relevant metadata & apply this our new assets.
By default, these assets will be set to Unapproved.
BrandHub Metadata | From | Notes |
Original name | Getty Images | “getty_1234578” → this uses the Getty ID! |
Custom name | Getty Images | Getty’s Name field. |
Description | Getty Images | “This file comes from Getty Images.” + Getty’s Description field. |
Usage | Getty Images | Getty’s Restrictions field. |
Context tags | BrandHub | |
Caption | BrandHub | |
Preview | BrandHub |
File types
When importing images into the BrandHub, we’ll add the largest available JPEG to the Asset Library. Similarly, when importing videos into the BrandHub, we’ll use the largest available MP4 file.
For example, a typical video from Getty Images:
Web | 8.47 MB | MP4 | |
HD | 158 MB | MP4 | Imported to BrandHub |
4K | 218 MB | MOV |
Migration
The type, amount, & size of assets purchased from Getty Images account will effect the expected time for the migration to complete.
Controlling Assets
Once assets have been imported to the BrandHub, we can edit them like any other asset.
- Tweak any of the metadata automatically ingested
- Add keywords
- Update the security level
You can make any of these changes individually, or in bulk.
Newly Purchased Assets
The BrandHub will check every 4 hours for new purchases in our linked Getty Images account.
Any newly purchased file will be added to the BrandHub’s Asset Library with all relevant metadata & set as Unapproved.
Admin view & instant sync
Selected users can be given access to Getty Sync. This is an extension of the BrandHub, letting us search Getty Images directly for new assets.
We can search & apply filters, just like Getty →
Once we’ve found a new image to purchase, we can add it to the BrandHub’s Asset Library straight away.
Click on the asset to view metadata, then Add to Asset Libary.
This will purchase the asset from Getty, & then add it to the BrandHub’s Asset Library as an Unapproved asset.
Metadata
Metadata will be ingested from Getty & generated by the BrandHub:
